Welcome
to this first ever
Online Global Poll
on the issues of the environment
and sustainable development.

On behalf of the Andreas Papandreou Foundation of Athens, Greece, PoliticsOnline launched the first online global poll in conjunction with the United Nations Summit on Sustainable Development held in Johannesburg from August 26 - Sept 4, 2002.

Over 25,000 people from 175 countries around the globe participated in this bold experiment in e-democracy about the vital issues of the environment and sustainable development.

For the first time ever citizens from all over the globe had the opportunity to express their opinions and ideas about the current state of the environment in their county and the world at large and suggest possible steps to be taken to promote sustainable development.

The poll was conducted by NetPulse Global Polls, a new division of PoliticsOnline. Partners and Sponsors of the poll included the BBC, Microsoft/Slate, AOL/TIme Warner, UTS, APCO Worldwide and Electorales.com.
